Agenda Item: VIII.C.

Consider/Approve Request to Declare Property Surplus and Dispose Via Most Economical Method

Background Information:

The Maintenance and Light Repair (Automotive Technology) program at OCCHS requests the board to declare surplus a Grabber Winner vehicle frame bending machine. This equipment no longer aligns with the MLR academic standards, and these items are no longer of use to the system. The estimated value is in excess of the value specified in TCA §49-6-2007(d)(1), which states “Surplus personal property in local school systems which has no value or has a value less than two hundred fifty dollars ($250), may be disposed of without the necessity of bids as required by this section.” Upon Board approval, the Maintenance and Light Repair (Automotive Technology) program will seek sealed bids for the equipment in an effort to return the most monetary value back to the system. The funds received will be used to purchase new equipment for the MLR program that aligns to the academic standards.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend the board declare the above-noted items as surplus and approve the disposition via the most economical method as described above.
